This will be the first year for men’s and women’s tennis at UW-Fond du Lac. The team was proposed and started by Lee Watson (Athletic Director) at UW-Fond du Lac. The goals for this newly established team are to have high participation in their first year and also to be competitive in the WCC & WJCAA conference & league. Coach Watson experienced success in the tennis program at UW-Fox Valley with two state & conference championship teams in the past four years and would like to continue this tradition at UW-Fond du Lac. All of the practices and matches will be held at either the Fond du Lac High School and/or area public courts (McDermott, Buttermilk, Taylor, Riverside, etc.)
The team this year is very young with only two players with significant playing experience. The two players that will lead the team this season are Jeremy Broitzman (Beaver Dam) and Reid Simons (FDL H.S.). Coach Watson will look for these two players to help out the team with both playing experience and their leadership; with each playing #1 & #2 Singles and #1 Doubles. Our hope this year is to have fun, be competitive, and have high participation in tennis; which will ultimately lead to more success for future years.
