Coach Kevin Seibel is entering his third
season as head coach of the UW-Fond du Lac
Falcons squad. Kevin led the team to their
first winning season in 2006 and again in
2007. He prides himself on continuing the
success that has been built over the last
couple seasons.
Kevin was part of the team as a player
from 2004-2005. He had a career batting
average of .363 and holds the single season
batting average of .483. Kevin also was a
pivotal part of the pitching staff with a
career record of 5-5, while throwing twice
as many innings as any other pitcher over
any two year span and averaged over one
strikeout per inning pitched.
Coach Seibel’s method of using many
different line-ups and using the players’
versatility to play many positions has taken
advantage of opposing defenses. He is a
strong believer of using hit and runs along
with steals to get runners in scoring
position. His approach to pitching has also
been successful. Kevin believes in a strict
18 pitch per inning maximum limit, and his
system has resulted in the team having three
pitchers with earned run averages under 2.00
the past two seasons. He believes in
attacking hitters with the least amount of
pitches possible and emphasizes getting lots
of groundballs.
Coach Seibel is a graduate of New
Holstein High School, where he was an
all-conference pitcher. After playing for
the Falcons for a couple seasons, he was
hired as the head coach at the age of 20.
2008 Season Preview
The 2008 season looks to be another step
forward in the Falcon program. Returning
players include the ace of the pitching
staff, Alex Neubauer, who had a 1.62 E.R.A.
last season. Others include second
baseman/shortstop Ryan Lloyd who looks to
continue being the leader on the field. Also
returning are third baseman Nick Ball and
outfielder Jim Wetzel.
Newcomers to the squad are a bunch of
All-Area and All-Conference players in
catcher John Cetnar, pitchers Dustin Andrus
and Jeff Groleau, infielder Kenny Kiefer,
and first baseman Andy Weiglein. The team is
looking to excel with nine new faces to the
program. The line-up is also taking a
transformation from being a team of light
hitting speedsters into a line-up filled
with power bats. Outfielders Kory Pieper,
Cyle Guell, and Ryan Giese look to compete
for outfield spots and pitcher Tom Lloyd
looks to bolster the rotation. Overall, with
all the additions, it looks to be a great
year for the Falcons.
