UW-Fond du Lac to offer ACT Preparation course this autumn
Fond du Lac, Wis.- The University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac will offer an ACT Preparation course taught by UW Colleges faculty members beginning Sept. 29.
Students will meet four times on Saturday, Sept. 29, 8 a.m.-noon; Saturday, Oct. 6, 8 a.m.-noon: Tuesday, Oct. 9, 5:30-9 p.m., and Thursday, Oct. 11, 6-8 p.m.

To receive full benefit of this course it is important to attend all class sessions. It is also important to note that registering for the ACT Preparation course does not register students for the ACT test.
At the first meeting students will take a diagnostic test to identify areas of both strength and need. The second and third class meetings will include a review of the pretest results, English/reading/writing and math and science. The last class meeting will include a mini-test, wrap-up and questions.
Additional sections of the ACT prep course will be offered this winter and spring prior to each ACT exam date.
In a post evaluation of the students having participated in the first ACT prep course in March 2007, one hundred percent indicated a good to excellent understanding of ACT study skills, testing guidelines and mathematics section of exam.
Additionally, 87.5 % of the students rated good to excellent the practical value of the course, quality of materials, allocation of time to subjects, and overall rating of content. Seventy five percent of the students indicated the quality of faculty teaching the course were very good or excellent.
One of the students is quoted as saying, “It helped me know what to expect. And, by taking the test two times in this class, I know what is on each category and can relax more.”
The course fee is $129 and includes the 532-page study guide “Cracking the ACT”, administration of pre-test complete with results, and all instruction. Early registration is recommended due to limited space. To register or for more information call (920) 929-3622 or sign up and pay online at www.fdl.uwc.edu/cont_ed . This course is sponsored by UW-Fond du Lac and UW-Extension Continuing Education.
