UW-Fond du Lac Athletic Department recruiting for fall sport teams

The University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac is now recruiting student-athletes for the fall sports teams, including co-ed soccer, men’s and women’s golf, and women’s volleyball.

All incoming and returning UW-Fond du Lac students are encouraged to try out for any fall sports. As one of the 13 campuses within the UW System, UW-Fond du Lac student-athletes compete in the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference (WCC) and are a member of the Wisconsin Junior College Athletic Association state league (WJCAA).

The soccer team is lead by veteran head coach Craig Larson, who will be entering his 14th year as head coach at UW-Fond du Lac. Coach Larson is also a student-athlete alumnus of the campus who completed his soccer career at UW-Oshkosh. The soccer team is coming off of a Conference Championship last year and is looking to do well again this season. Coach Larson will hold an opening meeting on Monday, August 20 at 5:00 pm in the UW-Fond du Lac Field House, followed by practice starting on Tuesday, August 21 at 5:00 pm. The Soccer team will kick off their season on the road at Ripon College on Tuesday, August 28 followed by their first home game on Friday, August 31 at 5:00 pm (Alumni Game).

Women’s volleyball, led by Coach Roger Duley who is in his fifth year as UW-Fond du Lac’s head coach, will be starting practice on Monday, August 20 at 7:00 pm. The volleyball team is coming off of a good year, qualifying for the state tournament for the third year in a row. The team will be looking for 8-10 players to participate this season. The volleyball team will begin their season by playing their annual Alumni Game on Friday, September 7 at 6:00 pm.

UW Fond du Lac’s golf team, led by John Scotello and Tom Clausen, will look to repeat their success from last season, too. The team finished as co-conference champions. Students interested in participating in golf should attend an informational meeting on Wednesday, August 29 at 8:30 a.m. on the balcony in the University Center Commons. The golf team will start their regular season play on the road at MATC (Madison) Invitational on September 11.

All UW-Fond du Lac students are encouraged to participate in campus varsity sports. Updated schedules for all varsity sports are available on the UW-Fond du Lac website.
