Playing Frisbee offers life lessons according to presenter

A former bank executive and Pro Frisbee player Alan Blake will present the story “Frisbee as a Way of Life” at noon on Tuesday, March 11 at the University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac, 400 University Drive, in the Large Group Instruction Room.

The presentation is free and open to the public.

“The idea for ‘Frisbee as a Way of Life’ first occurred to me while doing Frisbee disc exhibitions in the 1970s,” said Blake “I’m excited to have the opportunity to share some of the lessons I learned playing Frisbee, and more important, how those lessons can help attendees improve their own lives and careers.”

According to Blake, the presentation is “an entertaining and insightful review of the lessons of the Frisbee” based on his experiences both as an International Frisbee disc Champion and Pro Frisbee Player, and later as a successful businessman and bank executive.

In 1975, Blake graduated from college with a Philosophy degree and three consecutive International Frisbee disc Championships to his name. He and a partner then started the world’s first Pro Frisbee business, featuring up to three teams of traveling Pro Frisbee players giving exhibitions, clinics and running Frisbee contests at colleges and other venues throughout the U.S.

After leaving Pro Frisbee in 1978, Blake followed a more traditional career in business, finance and banking, recently retiring from banking after a successful term as Managing Director and local Market Director for JPMorgan Chase Private Client Services in Northeast Wisconsin.

Blake’s appearance is sponsored by the UW-Fond du Lac Work Zone as part of their Career Series leading up to the Fond du Lac Area Job Fair.
