UW-Fond du Lac announces Corks and Forks fundraiser
Event to support student scholarships and UW-Fond du Lac Foundation
Corks and Forks, a new fundraising event for the Fond du Lac area featuring international cuisine and wine will be held 5-9 p.m. on Thursday, March 21 in the UW-Fond du Lac University Center Commons, 400 University Dr., Fond du Lac.
The event will be the largest fundraiser of the year supporting UW-Fond du Lac student scholarships and the UW-Fond du Lac Foundation. Those attending will enjoy a four-course Italian meal beginning with international hors d’oeuvres prepared by Linstrom’s Special Occasion Catering. Major sponsors for the event are Michael’s Corporation and Sadoff Family Foundation. The media sponsor is Action Reporter Media.
The evening will feature the presentation of the UW-Fond du Lac’s 2013 Spirit of Excellence Award to Judith Berger O’Brien. She will be recognized for her support of UW-Fond du Lac students through the establishment of the Berger Book Bag Fund. The fund was established to honor Joseph S. Berger, Sr. and Joseph S. Berger, Jr. who were a driving force behind the efforts to establish a University of Wisconsin campus in Fond du Lac. Through the Berger Book Bag Fund, students who might otherwise have difficulty in purchasing required books receive assistance..
Previous UW-Fond du Lac Spirit of Excellence Awards have been given to Harold “Danny” and Charmaine LaShay and founding campus Dean Bill Henken.
The evening will begin with a reception featuring international hors d’ oeuvres including sweet and sour beef pyramids (Asian), lamb pastry puffs (Greek), jerk veggie phylo cups (Caribbean) and cilantro lime chicken squares (Latin). Chef Dave Linstrom will then guide diners through the remaining three courses of the dinner featuring the tastes of Italy. The menu includes a caprese Italian salad, chicken saltimbocca, pasta with gorgonzola pesto, eggplant caponata and torta rustica. Tiramisu for dessert will finish off the meal.
Tables of eight sponsorships for Corks and Forks are available for $750 and include dinner for eight guests, name recognition at the event and two bottles of wine at the table. The cost of individual tickets is $75 per person.

Corks and Forks will include a silent and live auction, wine pull and a signature private label wine available for purchase. Donations of silent and live auction items are still being accepted. For more information or to donate, please call (920) 929-1335.
The UW-Fond du Lac Foundation was established in 1974 to support the campus and awarded $30,000 in scholarships to students for the 2012-13 academic year. It is directed by a 22-member volunteer board of directors.
