Celebrate Valentine’s Day with UW-Fond du Lac Music Department

“Put a Little Love in Your Heart” as the Fond du Lac Chamber Singers and UW-Fond du Lac’s vocal jazz ensemble, U-FiDeLity, both directed by Patricia Eby, serenade you and your valentine with love songs thru the ages while you enjoy either dessert or a full buffet meal in the UW-Fond du Lac University Center Commons, 400 University Dr.

The weekend begins with a concert and dessert show on Friday, Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m. followed by a second performance, a dinner show, on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 6 p.m.

Tickets for the concert and dessert show are $10 or $6 for UW-Fond du Lac students. Tickets for the dinner show are $22 or $16 for UW-Fond du Lac students. A cash bar will be available at both performances.

Advance purchase of tickets is required either in person at the UW-Fond du Lac Business Office (M-F, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) or by phone at (920) 906-6350. All seating is reserved. Tickets will only be sold thru Feb. 13 for the dinner show.

Those attending the dessert show will have an assortment of sweets prepared by Linstrom’s Catering served at their table. Coffee, specialty drinks and specialty coffee will be available for purchase at the cash bar.

The dinner show includes a full buffet featuring some of Chef Linstrom’s favorites - chicken prosciutto, tenderloin in puff pastry, artichoke rice pilaf with chocolate-dipped strawberries for dessert.

The evening's entertainment opens with U-FiDeLity performing “What the World Needs Now is Love” by Burt Bacharach and joined by Fond du Lac Chamber Singers setting the mood with the theme song “Put a Little Love in Your Heart”.

The evening will bring back memories for all ages with tunes by the Beatles, Andrew Sisters and Carpenters. The standards will be interspersed with music from the musicals Grease (“You’re the One that I Want”), An American Tale (“Somewhere Out There”) and The Phantom of the Opera (“Think of Me”).

In addition to the full ensembles, there will be a chance to hear our own “Andrew Sisters” Teresa, Angie and Maggie with a rendition of “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree”, Fond du Lac (not Manhattan) “Transfer” group singing “The Boy from New York City” and Beatles’ tunes by our FAB Seven!

Soloists include Teresa Emery, Jennifer Bell, Katie Thompson, Eva Thelen, John Emery, and Paul Thompson. Instrumentalists Cara Davis, piano; Paul Thompson, bass and Joe Howard, drums will provide rhythm back –up for the singers as well as music for your dining pleasure.

Those attending should be prepared to get aboard our “Love Train” - “Here There and Everywhere” and be ready to “Put a Little Love in Your Heart”.

Tickets are also now available for a second weekend of musical entertainment this spring. “Arias & Candlelight” is set for April 25 and 26 as the Fond du Lac Chamber Singers and guest soloists host an elegant evening of light opera solos and choruses.

A concert and dessert event will again be held on the Friday evening (Apr. 25) at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 or $6 for UW-Fond du Lac students.

A seven-course meal prepared by Linstrom’s catering will be served as part of the Saturday night performance (Apr. 26) at 6 p.m. Tickets for this dinner show are $30 or $25 for UW-Fond du Lac students.
