Service Learning Community Partners Recognized

UW-Fond du Lac recently recognized community partners who have been instrumental in the success of the service-learning program at the campus. Awards were presented by Carrie Hovland, left, UW-Fond du Lac’s AmeriCorps* VISTA Service-Learning Coordinator to Kay Vandervort, Executive Director of the Volunteer Center of Fond du Lac County; Charlie Pratt, Activity Director/Volunteer Coordinator for the Woodlands Senior Park; and Stan Kocos, Chief Professional Officer of the Boys and Girls Club of Fond du Lac and Fond du Lac School District, CLC Program Administrator. During the fall 2006 semester, 107 UW-Fond du Lac students completed 490 service hours in the community at various locations. Service-learning gives the students the chance to practice skills from the classroom in a “real world” setting and the community benefits from having needs met. For more information on service-learning contact Hovland at 929-6848.
