Student Information Technology Training Program  

UW-Fond du Lac will be hiring and training one incoming freshman to work for two years in the Information Technology (IT) department. Here's your chance to gain valuable on-the-job training in the technology field as well as earn enough money to pay for your tuition and more! One full-time freshman will participate in this outstanding educational and job-training program. Students, who complete the first year of the program including summer training, academic year employment and following summer employment, will also receive a $1,000 stipend for the second year of participation in the program, to be paid $500 at the beginning of the Fall and Spring semesters.

Students will assist campus Information Technology staff in:

  • Technical support of distance education classes
  • Troubleshooting hardware and software problems
  • Help desk support for student computer labs
  • Desktop support for faculty, staff, and students
  • Software and hardware documentation
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Program highlights include:

  • Four day intensive training at UW-Richland. Travel, meals, and housing will be covered and students will also be paid a stipend ($7.50/hour) for the training (June 14-17, 2010).
  • Followed by 10 thirty hour weeks of employment at $7.50/hour before classes begin to earn up to $2,250.  (June 21-August 30).
  • Employment during the school year in the IT department at UW-FDL. Students will earn up to $3,600 working an average of 15 hours/week for 30 weeks, at $8.00/hour.
  • Summer employment after freshman year  working in the IT department. Students can earn up to $3,360 during the summer.
  • Employment during sophomore year (2011-2012) working an average of 15 hours/week at $8.50/hour.

Qualifications:

  • Strong academic record.
  • Computer literacy (experience with e-mail, web browsing, word processing) is helpful.
  • Personable and have experience working with people.
