Universal Borrowing / Call Slip
To order a book, video, or CD from another UW Colleges library:
- Connect to the UW Colleges Library Catalog.
- Search the UW Colleges Library Catalog for an item you’d like and check to be sure the Fond du Lac does not own the item. The item must say that it is “Available”.
- With the item record (citation) on the screen, click on the Place Requests button.
- Enter your barcode number from your ID card.
- Enter your last name and click on “Login.”
- The drop down box should say Request from Another UW Colleges Library.
- Click OK.
- On the next screen there is a drop-down box labeled PICK CAMPUS TO SEND TO. Click on the down arrow on the right side of the box and choose Fond du Lac. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. IF THIS IS NOT DONE THE BOOK WILL NOT BE SENT TO THE CORRECT CAMPUS.
- Re-enter your barcode number from your ID card.
- If you have any comments, enter them. Then click on the “Submit Request” button.
- If all went well, the message that “Your request was successful” will display.
- Click on “Back to record” to return to the online catalog.
- To check on the status of, modify, or cancel your request, click on the button labeled “Your Account”, fill in the requested information, and click on “Login”. Scroll down to see your requests.
- Materials will be delivered to the UW-Fond du Lac Library in 2-5 working days (in most cases).
To order a book, video, or CD from any four-year UW Campus Library:
If the item you want is not in the UW Colleges Library Catalog, you may search the catalogs of the four year UW Campus Libraries by clicking on the “More Libraries” link.
- Select the individual campus libraries that you would like to search, or select “All UW System/Universal Borrowing Libraries and click on “Connect”.
- Enter your search and click on the “Search” button.
- A “Search Multiple Catalogs” screen appears. Wait while the search is processing. When the search is complete, scroll down and click on the “Show” link to see the results.
- When you find the item you want, click on it to view the item record.
- Check to be sure that the item status is “Available”. If yes, continue on; if not, you may not order this item. Check for another.
- With the item record (citation) displayed on the screen, click on the “Place Request” button at the top of the screen.
- Enter your ID card number.
- Enter your last name.
- Click on “Login”.
- The drop down box should say Request from another UW System Library.
- Click OK.
- The next screen displays a holding library, the barcode number for the item, and asks for your ID number.
- Again there is a drop-down box labeled PICK CAMPUS TO SEND TO. Click on the down arrow on the right side of the box and choose Fond du Lac. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. IF THIS IS NOT DONE THE BOOK WILL NOT BE SENT TO THE CORRECT CAMPUS.
- Click on “Submit Request”.
