‘FORE’-TUNATE TIMING
Cameras are the usual medium for capturing sporting events, but alumnus and Foundation board member Lyle Birschbach has the distinction of having his first hole-in-one captured on canvas.
UW-Fond du Lac art student Amanda Bates was one of art Professor
John Scotello’s students painting landscapes at South Hills Country Club on April 30, 2008, when she heard a golfer’s celebratory shouts on a nearby hill.
She was stunned when Birschbach approached her on the course and wanted to purchase the then-unfinished artwork she was painting. The now-completed piece is displayed in his office. Bates and other UW-Fond du Lac art students sell works and support campus scholarships through the annual Art Momentum event held every May in the University Center Commons.
