Interesting campus tidbits
- The initial cost of the campus was $5,201,385.89. Half of that was used to secure a general contractor, related contractor expenses, and architects’ fees.
- The campus renovation completed in 2000 cost approximately $13 million.
- For the 1968-1969 academic year, all unmarried students who were not living at home or who were not 21 years of age were requested to live in student housing which was registered by the dean, since there were no residence halls.
- In the 1968-1969 Fond du Lac Campus Catalog, the admission requirements as stated by the Board of Regents of State Universities required a recommendation by the high school principal or counselor that the student be admitted.
- “The Laker” was the name of the first newspaper on campus. The name was changed to “UW-Fond du Lac Reflection” in October of 1985.
- The 1969 yearbook at WSU-Fond du Lac was named the “Spectrum” and was available for $4.25.
- UW-Fond du Lac officially opened on Sept. 9, 1968, as the Wisconsin State University-Fond du Lac Campus. The freshman class of 230 students in 1968 paid $161 for their tuition and fees.
