Stain Glass Lamination
5 Wednesdays, Feb. 20, March 6, 20, April 3, 17

Instructor: Charles Wydeven

You can make beautiful stained glass windows and sun catchers using a simple stained glass procedure known as lamination. All you have to do is to cut, grind, and laminate stained glass pieces onto a clear glass pane. After the glue dries tile grout is added to fill the gaps between the stained glass pieces. The stained glass windows can be framed with silicone adhesive. Bring an old picture frame with glass in it. The glass will be used for lamination and will be framed after completion. Come to class with some ideas so that you can start your project on the first day. Fee: $69 includes materials.

Fused Glass Jewels
2 Tuesdays and 2 Thursdays, Feb. 12, 14 and Feb. 19 and 21

Design and create your own gorgeous fused glass beaded jewelry, and have fun doing it! Make the focal components while learning how glass transforms in the kiln firing process. Complete two necklaces and 1 bracelet in this course. No glass or artistic experience necessary. Bring your own safety glasses. Fee: $129 includes your materials.

American Tribal Style Belly Dance
10 Mondays, February 4 – April 8th

Whether you have an interest in dance, you’re tired of the gym or just curious, this course will add a bounce to your step! Begin with a brief history to learn how traditional and contemporary styles of this age old art combine to create movement full of beauty and grace. ATS (American Tribal Style) is a low-impact dance form. Learn introductory skills that become more intricate is the course progresses. Improve your posture and increase your confidence! Build coordination and core strength while learning simple isolations. Learn about ATS costuming. Don’t be shy; all shapes and sizes are welcome. Women only please. Hip scarves and zills encouraged, but not necessary. Please dress comfortably. Fee: $49

Contemplative Photography
10 Mondays, January 28 – April 1

Very simply, contemplative photography is a practice of being present and mindful of yourself and your surroundings. As a result you will begin to notice a change in how you see the world around you. The act of taking photos and the photos are equally important in this class.

Although some technical aspects may be discussed, this class is about contemplating subjects and formal art/design aspects such as shape, line, shadow, and repetition. Materials needed: working camera, (if it’s manual please be sure you are able to develop photos regularly). Fee: $59

The Artist’s Way

We will be reading “The Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity.” This course will follow the structure of Julia Cameron’s book. She wrote the book about creative recovery and provides concrete ways to begin to honor your creativity. This book is about helping you release and express your own creativity and gain confidence in your life and work. The book teaches techniques and exercises. This course has the potential to change your life! Fee $75.

Materials needed: purchase the book, The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron with Mark Bryan (available on Amazon) and a notebook.

Want to get fit? Join this safe, effective, evidence based strength training program designed by Dr. Miriam Nelson of Tufts University. It helps middle-aged and older women build muscle, strengthen bones, prevent frailty, improve balance and increase overall physical and mental health. Each participant should supply: comfortable clothes, gym or tennis shoes, floor mat or towel, water bottle, ankle weights (adjustable up to 10 pounds each, 20 pounds total), hand weights (a pair each weight level) 3 pounds and 5 pounds. Space is limited. Participants are required to obtain and sign proper paperwork before the first class. Fee: $40 (morning session) or $45 (evening session with Booster Pack).
