Chemistry: Up, Up & Away!

Chemistry of liquids and gases is not magic, but sometimes it might seem like it! Discover the nature of gases and liquids in this hands-on class. You will learn amazing uses for them and how you can cause some unusual and surprising effects by performing chemical reactions. How does the chemistry of gases literally take you up, up and away? You’ll want to sign up for this course to find out!
Taking Care of Pets
Instructor: Alecia Murray, State Licensed Veterinary Technician
Join us in learning basic pet care including prevention and illness intervention. In this class you will learn about the world of internal and external parasites, and how they impact our pets and ourselves. Explore nutrition and how “you are what you eat” also applies to your pets. Learn about dental care and how to brush your pets’ teeth. There will be daily reviews of radiographs (x-rays) and identifying “what might be wrong with this picture” and PowerPoint slides demonstrating friendly and not so friendly canine body language. There might even be a furry guest or two to assist Alecia in teaching how to take care of your pets. The week finishes with a game of Dog O’ Jeopardy with the best prizes yet!

Showcase your technology skills while you build your own website using Weebly and Wix! Plan, organize and construct a website while navigating the internet in a safe online learning environment and learn proper “netiquette” skills. Create and embed an audio recording using the program Audacity, broadcast your own podcast linking it to your website and make an online book using ePub. Learn how to upload and download audio, videos and pictures. The pictures will then be used to organize your own Animoto video. This course is sure to please even the most techno-savvy student!
Hatha Yoga Be a Pretzel!
Instructor: Lora Vahlsing, Certified Hatha Yoga instructor, UW-FDL, Center for Spirituality & Healing, Campbellsport School District and privately
Bring a towel or mat and learn all about Hatha Yoga, an ancient, classic form of yoga. You will begin with basic asanas (postures) and meditation, progressively getting more difficult. Learn how to breathe to calm yourself and learn how to increase your flexibility, balance and strength. Each day will end with a guided relaxation and a brief meditation. Wear comfortable clothing and be ready to just have fun!
Let’s Play Handchimes!

Did you ever want to learn to play an instrument but don’t have room for a piano or aren’t thrilled about blowing into a horn? Why not try handchimes!? Handchimes are musical instruments a lot like handbells that are rung with your hands to make sounds but they look much different. You only need to learn 1 or 2 notes as you work in a group to learn technique, note values and beginning rhythms to turn what you have learned into a song and perform at the closing program the last day. No musical background needed. Come, join us and try out this popular instrument!
iPads and Computers: Fun and Games with music apps

Come ready to PLAY musical games & activities, LEARN and WIN! while exploring a wide variety of game format music apps for the iPad and computer. You will get your own iPad to use in class each day. With the fun you’ll have, you’ll hardly realize you are increasing your musical skills! Very limited enrollment.
A Buffet of Labs and Experiments if You Dare!

Perform science experiments, fun labs and activities that will challenge and amaze while learning about chemical reactions, physics and other wonderful science topics as you explore different areas of science. Examine density, dry ice, chemical reactions using candy and other unique items as well as creating crystals are just some of the items on this science class menu!
Play with your Food…in French!
Instructor: Lea Cicchiello, French and Italian instructor, UW-Fond du Lac, UW-Oshkosh and at Fox Valley Technical College
You won’t be able to actually play with your food, but you sure will have fun learning elements of the French language and culture with this course focusing on…food! Enjoy fun activities such as games, songs, coloring, etc. as you learn the names of different fruits, sing songs about food in French, learn how to order pizza with your favorite toppings, compare traditional American foods and French foods and learn what special foods French people eat for special days of the year. By the end of the week you’ll be able to introduce yourselves in French too! Join us in having fun with the French language!
Play, Explore, Discover…Solved!

Learn to solve and complete high energy, handson activities and games by working together in a super fun environment. How about a paper stacking contest, Hula-Hoop relay, the Pretzel or maybe a sponge-ball relay? Learn problem solving skills, self-confidence, team building skills and leadership qualities while playing fun games using items such as balloons, straws, balls, ropes, playing cards or marbles. Are you ready to play?
Finger Knitting Fun!
Instructor: Wendy Schlies, middle school physical education instructor, Plymouth School District
Finger knitting is exactly that….knitting with your fingers! No big knitting needles to hold in your small hands here! Develop basic finger knitting skills, improve fine motor coordination and enhance your creativity while you create several basic projects. Possibilities are endless once you learn how! This is a great way to spend your free time when you need something fun to do!
Put on your dancing boots… We’re Goin’ to a Hoedown!

Move, move, move your feet! Put on your dancing boots and clear your throat we’re going to move and sing! Don’t let the word “dance” worry you no experience is needed to learn early American dances! You’ll learn a variety of traditional American circle dances and sing the songs to accompany them. Great fun for everyone!
Art History... Fun? Who Knew!

Become the next Van Gogh, Monet or Warhol! Who are they, you ask? Connect creative art through history as you learn about different styles of art from various time periods, places and people. Each day you’ll explore a different artist, style, place and media. Learn to communicate about the discovery of the meaning of a piece of artwork by creating your own special works of art to take home! Will it be sculpting or using fibers? How about drawings, paintings or prints? Join us on a journey through the eyes of the art world!
Creature Creation!
Instructor: Kathy Charland, elementary instructor, Fond du Lac School District
Challenge yourself to create your own creature by researching habitats, food sources, predators and survival strategies for animals. Work together to create, design and build a never before seen creature and it’s environment using the information you researched. Will it be a dino-raffe, a coon-skunk? Let your imagination go wild while learning about habitats in the process!
Spa Day: Make and Take!
Instructor: Jessica Barrington, middle school instructor, Plymouth School District
Do you love to pamper or be pampered? Did you know that many products that are used in spas can be made from everyday items you probably already have at home, such as honey, Epsom salts and cinnamon? Students will use multiple dimensions of health in everyday life (physical, social, environmental and emotional) to learn about natural healing properties and create a basket full of fun spa skin care essentials to take home to use themselves or surprise a friend! Possibilities are endless…chocolate lip balm, glycerin soaps, cinnamon sugar body scrub, solid fragrances and scented bath salts! Students will need to bring a pair of inexpensive plastic flip flops to the first day of class.

Back by popular demand! Explore the freedom of creativity and learn the basics of “Do-It-Yourself”. Developing an inventory of materials provided and things you will bring to class, we will have plenty to work with! We will make original home décor and gifts such as picture frames and jewelry boxes from old magazines; jewelry and key chains from various strings and metal hardware; and the highlight of class creating today’s fashionable clothing styles with nothing but a plain t-shirt! Boys are welcome as well! A lot can be done with some basic household materials and a little creativity!
