Donating to the Gottfried Arboretum

Four Reasons to Give
- Preserving Our Native Plant Communities
The Gottfried Arboretum preserves an important piece of the area’s heritage. Less than one percent of our native plant community remains, and it’s important to preserve native plants before they are lost forever. Native plants are priceless.
- A Chance to Get Involved
The Arboretum is an important collaboration between volunteers and the county. It serves as a model for the dedication of local residents and government cooperation. Many volunteers have contributed hundreds of hours to establish and maintain the Arboretum. The Arboretum is truly a grassroots project.
- Learning and Teaching
At our annual Prairie Fest, hundreds of people learn about native plants and our area’s past. Our interpretive trail provides a casual way to learn about the prairie. Each week during the summer, volunteers learn more about prairie ecology and maintenance.
- Inspiring and Renewing
The Arboretum provides a place to relax and exercise for many local residents. Walking trails, benches, and a picnic kiosk all provide a chance to enjoy nature. Each year, hundreds of visitors are reinvigorated when they walk through the prairie in bloomacre after beautiful acre of flowers like purple coneflower, beebalm and aster.
