UW-Milwaukee Chancellor Nancy Zimpher and UW-Fond du Lac Dean Judy Goldsmith announced a proposal to allow students to earn their bachelor’s degree on the UW-Fond du Lac campus.

The opening of the Prairie Theater at UW-Fond du Lac was celebrated with the musical production “Working” from November 9-12.

Judy Goldsmith retires after nine years as dean. Daniel Blankenship was named to UW-Fond du Lac dean.

UW-Fond du Lac students gather in the University Center Commons to honor the heroes of the Sept. 11 attacks.

With 740 students, UW-Fond du Lac saw its largest enrollment since 1993. Enrollment for fall was up 10% from the previous year. Approximately 22% of students were over the age of 22.

The Chicago-based Trinity Irish Dance Co. appeared in the UW-Fond du Lac Prairie Theater before a sold out crowd.

Milwaukee Shakespeare’s associate director Robert Quinlan conducted a hands-on workshop on Shakespeare’s language for UW-Fond du Lac students and the community.

The kick-off for the Fond du Lac Reads program was held at UW-Fond du Lac. Residents attended a Depression-era dinner and watched the movie version of “To Kill a Mockingbird” in the Prairie Theater.

A discussion on stem cell research was held at UW-Fond du Lac featuring Andy Cohn, government and public relations manager for the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF).

A thousand books were donated to pre-K thru eighth grade students in the Fond du Lac area as part of Turn off TV Week promoted thru the Service-learning program at the campus.

A $1,000 grant received by the Gottfried Arboretum is used to develop four environmental education programs for the Fond du Lac area.

Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Barbara Lawton spoke to students, faculty and community members at UW-Fond du Lac and answered questions on topics such as immigration, reducing the deficit and financial aid for students.

UW-Fond du Lac student Joe Vande Slunt traveled to Prague, Czech Republic, as part of the Global Leadership Program.

Students returned to school in financial aid limbo when the State stopped distributing aid because the state budget hadn’t been finalized.

Kim Peek, the man who was an inspiration for the movie “Rain Man” speaks to a standing-room only audience in the Prairie Theater. Kim and his father, Fran Peek, were guests of Dr. Darold Treffert, M.D. who presented a lecture on Savant Syndrome.

For the second year in a row, UW-Fond du Lac froze tuition rates. For the 08-09 academic year, tuition will stay at $4,268, roughly $800 less than four-year campuses such as UW-Oshkosh and $2,300 less than tuition at UW-Madison and UW-Milwaukee.
