After hearing thoughts that 51 acres of land would not be large enough for a two-year campus, the director of the state university system, Eugene McPhee, stated that “There’s quite an advantage in this site if you can tie up the land for future expansion. The 55 acres is enough to start.”

While awaiting the final decision on the development of a University Center in Fond du Lac, Superintendent of Schools Robert P. Moser stated that the local potential of college-educated students would allow them to be more able to compete in today’s degree-conscious world.

Central heating was planned for the Fond du Lac Branch Campus at the expense of $150,000, but architects advised committee members that the long-range benefits would compensate for the expense.

Total fees for full-time students were determined at WSU-Fond du Lac to be $161 for Wisconsin residents per semester. Of the $161, $119 will pay tuition, $2.50 will cover a student health fee, $18 paid a student activity fee, $12 covered a student union fee, and $9.50 paid for the textbook rental fee. Part-time students of eleven credits or less paid $10 per credit if they were a Wisconsin resident.

Dr. Allan Loehndorf was named director of student services at the Wisconsin State University-Fond du Lac campus. He was the second member to be added to the faculty, following Dean Willard Henken.

Kenneth Thomas, assistant director of Wisconsin State University-Oshkosh’s Reeve Memorial Union was named director of student activities at WSU-Fond du Lac. His duties included supervision of the student center as well as campus social, cultural, and recreational programs.

Richard Knar, a former Milwaukee and Wisconsin Rapids football and basketball coach was named instructor of mathematics and head basketball coach at WSU-Fond du Lac.

Wisconsin Governor Warren Knowles toured the Fond du Lac campus with Dean Willard Henken, who received a State flag from the Governor for use at the university.
08/16/68
An enrollment of 250-300 students were anticipated to start the first official freshman class at WSU-Fond du Lac. Classes formally started on September 9 at 7:30 a.m.
04/25/69
Governor Warren Knowles was the principal speaker at the formal dedication of the WSU-Fond du Lac campus. Tours of the campus proceeded the dedication to give anyone interested a view of the facilities.
