Counselor's Update
UW-Fond du Lac Art Department Shares Exciting News!
John Scotello, Associate Professor of Art at UW-Fond du Lac, has proudly announced exciting news about his UW-Fond du Lac art students transferring this fall to continue progress on their bachelor’s degree.
One hundred percent of the students have been accepted into the art program of their choice. Programs include Viterbo University in LaCrosse, The Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pratt Institute in New York.
The majority of the transferring art students have been awarded scholarships varying from $500-$5,000 upon transfer to their four year institution. Based on the quality of the art program at UW-Fond du Lac and the students who come through it, Viterbo has offered all art students at UW-Fond du Lac an automatic transfer opportunity to attend that school to further their education in art with the potential for scholarships ranging from $1,000-$7,000 annually, the amount dependent on student academic achievement.
Summer Registration
Registration for summer classes began on March 1st. There are 3 week, 6 week, and 8 week courses available throughout the summer. Some of the summer classes begin as of Monday, May 21st. You can view the list of summer classes online at http://www.uwc.edu/courses/campus.asp?campus=FDL.
Thanks to those of you working with Summer Bridge students for the reminders about placement tests and registration you have provided your students. The Bridge students have been especially responsive with their “contracts,” placement tests, and appointments for registration this year. If you know of any still “hanging out there,” please don’t hesitate to prompt them to follow through with us!

University of Wisconsin Institutions: Areas of Excellence
At our recent luncheon for high school counselors a question arose as to how to appropriately direct your students to the best UW baccalaureate college for the specific career of their choice.
I would like to emphasize that a very good bachelor’s degree can be earned in any field offered by each college. But each of our great colleges has become known for particular areas of excellence. What follows is a basic chart to be used in conjunction with the UW Help publication on the University of Wisconsin System WWW.UWHELP.WISCONSIN.EDU .
